diamondThe Second C - CUT

Carat Weight | Cut | Color | Clarity

There are two important considerations to the cut of a diamond:

1) Shape
2) Cut

Diamonds can be cut into many different shapes:

  • Round Brilliant Cut
  • Emerald Cut
  • Marquise Cut
  • Oval Cut
  • Pear Cut
  • Trillion Cut
  • Princess Cut
  • Fancy Cut

Certain fancy shapes (any shape other than round), can be less expensive than a round diamond. The value of fancy shapes vary based upon their desirability in the current marketplace. most often you can obtain a better deal on fancy cuts compared to rounds.

A diamond is a prism refracting light rays that enter through it. It is crucial for the internal facets to be at specific angles to maintain optimum brightness. Poorly cut diamonds demand lower prices in the diamond market.
